Rasmussen and R2K This Morning: Obama at 52%

Wowzer.  For the first time, Rasmussen pegs Obama's support at 52% and now matches what Research 2000/Daily Kos has been saying for a few days:

Obama 52
McCain 44

Perhaps even better is Rasmussen's comment:

This is the highest level of support ever recorded for Obama and is his largest lead of the year. It also continues a remarkable twenty-five days in a row where the Democrat's support has never declined by even a single point.

Meanwhile, Research 2000/Daily Kos reports the race looks like this:

Obama 52
McCain 40

...that's pretty good.  They generally err on the side of conservatives by between 3 and 5 points.

We're makng history, folks.  Keep it up.

Many years ago, Ohio State was routing Michigan, when OSU scored the final touchdown against U of M, OSU Head Coach Woody Hayes went for a 2 point conversion instead of kicking the extra point, even though he was already leading by a ton...

After the game, when asked why he went for the two point conversion when the game was already a rout, he replied, "'Cos they wouldn't let me go for three!"

There's no time for sportsmanship, folks... Let's go for that three point conversion!!!

and that is weekend polling... which many people have been saying is Obama's weakest point of the week to be polled.. so go figure.

I really don't expect it to finish that way but it would be sweet to end up with a 52%+ victory in Nov. Lord knows what that would translate into EC wise, suppose it depends on McCain's battle with Barr and Nader

You know you're in good shape when you're splitting the vote between your candidate and "anyone but" your candidate.

Let's face it: some people just aren't going to vote for Obama no matter what; I'm not even going to get into the reasons.  It's good that we have choices for the liberals and conservatives to select so that they can vote for "not Obama" and still not have to vote for McCain.

You make a good point. Nader's prescense can actually serve to help us this year. Disaffected Dems who would have voted for McCain, can vote for Nader instead.

Because of Nader and Barr, the only votes that McCain would get are the people voting for McCain and not against Obama.

And we know that's about 10 million people..LOL!

Well, don't be too generous (none / 0)

I mean, Barr and Nader give options based on principles (insofar as Nader supporters tend to have principles; Nader himself is just as much an egoist as any presidential candidate), but there are going to be many that aren't pro-McCain but are so anti-Obama that they'll vote for McCain as the best chance to "stop" Obama.

Just like we tell people who are theoretically for McKinney or Nader that the only practical action is to vote Obama, there's a line of thinking that some will want to vote for the best chance to defeat Obama.

It's sad but true.
